Donald Haslag, Sr. 1937-2025

Donald J. “Don” Haslag, Sr., 88, Bonnots Mill, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.

He was born in Jan. 28, 1937, to the late Lincoln and Myrtle (Peters) Haslag in Frankenstein.   

He was a 1955 graduate of Linn High School.    

Don was united in marriage to Nancy Jo Fisher Sept. 24, 1955, in Tunica, Miss. She preceded him in death Dec. 21, 1993. He was united in marriage to Alice Ann Meier Sept. 2, 1995, in Loose Creek.  She preceded him in death Oct. 5, 2011.

Don was employed as a book binder for Von Hoffman Press in Jefferson City for 30 years before retiring in 1999.  He also was a poultry and Charolais farmer.

Don was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek and the American International Charolais Association. 

He enjoyed raising his registered Charolais cows, NASCAR and spending time with his family and friends.

Don was preceded in death by first wife, Nancy; second wife, Alice;  parents, Lincoln and Myrtle; son, Dennis Lee Haslag; and son-in-law, Phil Luebbert.

He is survived by son, Donnie Haslag, Jr. and wife Debbie of Bonnots Mill; daughters, Dianna Silvester and husband David and Darla Luebbert and friend Donnie Mantle, all of Jefferson City and Debbie Jaegers and husband Keith of Linn; brother, James “Jim” Haslag and wife Patricia of Linn; sister, Peggy Rikard and husband Ken of Homosassa Springs, Fla.; special friend, Millie Voss of Linn; grandchildren, John Haslag and friend Nicole Mendoza, Amy Dapron and husband Zach, Patrick Haslag and wife Jourdan, Duane Haslag and wife Jodi, Nikki Hall and husband Cory, Justin Haslag and friend Cadi Bullock, Cody Haslag and wife Taylor, Kalieb Haslag, Corrie McKinney and husband Adam, Jasmine VanLoo and husband Trent, Brandel Luebbert and wife Brittany, Meghan Kliethermes and husband Josh, Brittney Furgeson and husband Keith, and Riley Jaegers; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held from 9 until 11 a.m., (today) Wednesday, Oct. 29, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek, with Fr. Anthony Rinaldo officiating. Interment will be held in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery.    

Memorial contributions suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
