Dora Marie Massman, 91, Westphalia, passed away Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at Stonebridge Westphalia Hills surrounded by her family.

She was born June 7, 1932, to the late Leonilla Johannesmeyer in Westphalia.

She was a 1950 graduate of St. Elizabeth High School.

Dora was united in marriage to Joseph Bernard Massman Oct. 20, 1951, in St. Elizabeth.

She worked for over 15 years as a secretary for St. Joseph Catholic School in Westphalia as well as the Westphalia post office as a clerk, the License Practical Nurses Association and Veterans Affairs.

Dora was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia Senior Citizens Club and St. Ann’s Sodality. 

She enjoyed canning, playing cards, camping (especially with their good friends Wilfred and Jean Kempker), watching Hallmark movies and sitting on her front porch swinging with her husband.  Above all else, Dora loved her family especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Joe; parents; step-father, John Lueckenhoff; son, Carl “Muscles” Massman; daughter-in-law, Judy Massman; son-in-law, Marty “Putter” Wieberg; and brother, Bernie Lueckenhoff.

Dora is survived by children, William “Bill” Massman and wife Mary Jane; James “Sadie” Massman and wife Darlene; Daniel “Raaa” Massman; Susan “Sue” Wieberg; Douglas “Slug” Massman and wife Linda; Donna “Feenie”Weber and husband Jerry; Samuel “Pete” Massman and wife Jane; Chris “Pissy” Massman and wife Tammy; Nicholas “Alb” Massman and Patrick “Crotch” Massman and wife Suzanne; daughter-in-law, Denise Massman, all located within five miles of home in Westphalia; 26 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren with one more due in November; two great-great-grandsons; and sister-in-law, Sharon Lueckenhoff of Westphalia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., (today) Wednesday, Oct. 24, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia with the Rev. Dylan Schrader officiating.

Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to St. Joseph Catholic School.
