George Grellner 1938-2026

George Grellner, 88, Rich Fountian, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, at Stonebridge Westphalia Hills.

He was born on May 17, 1938, to the late Albert and Mary (Bock) Grellner in Rich Fountain.

He attended seven years of grade school in Rich Fountain and his eighth-grade year at St. Mary’s School in Chamois. 

George served his country in the Army Reserves.

He was united in marriage to Bernadette Rudroff on Oct. 24, 1964, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain. 

George was employed at the Alex Reinkemeyer Dairy Farm in Rich Fountain. In 1961, he began working at the Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City until his retirement on July 1, 2000.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain.

George enjoyed cutting grass, making walking trails in the woods, tinkering and overhauling items, driving his garden tractor, working in his garden and planting flowers.  At night he enjoyed watching Fox News.  His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends. 

George was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Mary; grandsons, Ryan Beers and Joshua Meyer; brothers, Ambrose and Robert Grellner; and sister-in-law, Veronica Grellner. 

He is survived by wife, Bernadette; children, Phyllis, James, Stanley and Sandra Grellner, all of Rich Fountain, Carol Meyer and husband Rick of Jefferson City, Marvin Grellner of Marshall and Sara Grellner of Rich Fountian; six step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; brother, Fred Grellner of Linn; sisters-in-law, Helen G. Grellner and Helen Grellner, both of Rich Fountain; along with several nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 until 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 4, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain, with Rev. William Debo officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions suggested to the Sacred Heart Endowment Fund.
