Happy Thanksgiving

Can you believe it? We’re already past Thanksgiving and hurdling toward the rest of the holiday season. I hope you were able to spend time with loved ones, enjoy some delicious home cooking, and maybe watch some football.

Or perhaps you’re catching up on rest after an early morning of Black Friday shopping. It seems like every year the deals start sooner and sooner, but given the brutal inflation we’ve seen recently, we can all appreciate a nice discount.

Today is a prime opportunity for open-face sandwiches piled with the best leftovers on Earth. However, as we enjoy the long weekend and reflect on the many blessings around us, I encourage you to consider our less fortunate neighbors in Missouri. According to Feeding America, more than 800,000 Missourians face food insecurity. They face this infliction year-round but often see an uptick in generosity from their communities during Thanksgiving.

My staff and I put together a list of local food banks around the Third District accepting donations. Though Thanksgiving is over, I encourage you to consider donating extra food and winter clothing to these organizations if you are able.

As for my list of things for which I’m thankful, it must begin with my wife, Jackie, and our amazing kids and grandkids. I’m sure the other grandparents reading this would agree, seeing our grandkids during the holidays is among the happiest moments in life. I’m also thankful for what I consider to be among the most fulfilling jobs in the world. Representing the Third District is the honor of my professional life, and I’m truly humbled and thankful for the trust you have put in me to serve you in Congress.

From my family to yours, I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving!
