Helen Marie Linhardt Knocke, 91, passed away on Jan. 31, 2026.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1934, to the late Mary (nee. Greichen) and Edwin Linhardt in Chamois.
She attended Wildcat Elementary School and Linn High School.
After high school Helen worked at Toellston’s Pharmacy in Jefferson City before moving to St. Louis where she worked at Meyer Brother’s Drug Company.
It is here that she met Roland Knocke and they were united in marriage in January of 1964. Together they had one son, David, in 1966. Roland had three children with his first wife, Bill, Katherine and Kevin.
Helen, Roland and David moved to New Orleans, La., where they resided until 1978, before relocating to St. Louis. She lived in Maryland Heights and worked for the U.S. Government until she retired in 1994. Shortly after retiring, Helen moved to Kirkwood where she was involved with the historical society.
She was a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ and attended several local churches.
Helen was preceded in death by husband, Roland; parents, Mary and Edwin; and brothers, Edwin, Carl, Vernon and Wilbur Linhardt.
She is survived by son, David and wife Catherine; stepchildren, Katherine,William and wife Melissa and Kevin and wife Beth; grandchildren, Elizabeth Wessel and husband Gian, and William and Paul Knocke; and great-grandchild, Vivian Elinor Wessel, who was the light of her life; and beloved nephew, James Linhardt.
A memorial visitation was held on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Bopp Chapel in Kirkwood.
