Hildegard M. Bax, 97, Koeltztown, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at Westphalia Hills Care Center surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 8, 1926, to the late Martin and Bernadine (Bock) Brandt in Osage County.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Bax Nov. 20, 1946.

Hildegard attended Boes Country School near Linn.

She was employed at Oberman Clothing Manufacturing Company prior to marriage. After her marriage she was a wife, mother, homemaker, farmer and in the later years she babysat her grandchildren whom she adored.

Hildegard was a dedicated, passionate Christian and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown. She was also a member of the quilting circle and the Linn Historical Society.

Hildegard loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband of 53 wonderful years, Raymond; parents, Martin and Bernadine; brothers, Norbert, Roman Al and Marty Brandt; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen, Mary and Loretta Brandt and Betty Falter; son-in-law, Larry Kempker; and grandsons,  Christopher and Bryan Kempker.

Hildegard is survived by children, Judy Kempker and Norbert Bax and wife Terry, all of Jefferson City and Linda Wieberg and husband Richard of Freeburg; sister, Sr. Regina Brandt of San Antonio, Texas; brother-in-law, Tony Falter of Columbia; sisters-in-law, Marie Haller of Vienna and Lorene Brandt of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Lisa Bax Hueste and husband Alan, Steve Kempker, Kevin Wieberg and wife Robin, Danny Bax and wife Lisa, Troy Wieberg and wife Sue and Stacey Bryan and husband Sam; great-grandchildren, Whitney Hueste Kemper and husband Jacob, Taylor Hueste and Isaac, Courtney, Lorelei, Aubrey, Sophia, Raymond and Theodore Wieberg.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Oct. 31, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown with Fr. Basil Tigga officiating. Interment was in St. Boniface Catholic Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to St. Boniface Catholic Church Endowment Fund or for Masses.
