CHAMOIS — Shane E. Conaway, 32, listed by the Osage County Sheriff’s Office as homeless, has been charged with first-degree harassment and fourth-degree assault following an Aug. 2 altercation at Riverside Park at Chamois.
According to a probable cause statement, Sgt. Ricky Jarvis responded last Wednesday afternoon to find Conaway standing near his vehicle in hand restraints.
The female victim indicated Conaway confronted her husband about his property being dismantled and removed from the park due to non-payment on a rental campsite. Conaway became extremely agitated, dropped his bags, and said he wanted to fight.
In his PC statement, Jarvis noted the female victim said that Conaway struck her husband in the face with a closed fist. The two men continued to fight and went to the ground. After yelling at the men to stop, the female victim called 911 to request help from law enforcement.
Tara Gorman, 25, who deputies listed as homeless, appeared on the scene and pushed the female victim while she was on the phone with 911.
According to the PC, the female victim pushed Gorman away and attempted to break up the physical altercation between her husband and Conaway.
Two witnesses retrieved hand restraints and secured Conaway, at which time he began to threaten the female victim, who told Jarvis that Conaway threatened to send the cartel to kill her. According to the female victim, Gorman threatened to assault her as well before leaving the scene ahead of the deputy’s arrival.
As a result, the female victim said she was scared for her well-being and wanted to pursue charges against both suspects.
Conaway was transported to the Osage County Detention Center. His bond was set at $50,000.
Gorman was taken into custody at another location in Chamois, booked, and released pending formal charges.
