Fatima’s junior high girls’ basketball team finished the year with the best record in school history, averaging nearly 50 points per game, playing only a regulation MSHSAA 24-minute clock, often with a running clock by the fourth quarter.
Coach Chris Ellis said the “Road Warrior” Lady Comets employed an exciting, quick-hitting offensive attack combined with a relentless man-to-man full-court pressing defense en route to an 11-1 record, with only one game at home.
“This was a fantastic season,” said Ellis.
Starters included eighth-grade point guard and floor general Jayla Hoskins, defensive stopper and assist-making guard Lexi Massman, multi-purpose guard/stretch forward Chloe Voss, and dominant scorer and rebounder center Ari Rehagen. Rounding out this outstanding quintet was sixth-grade sharpshooting guard Rowynn Steiner.
Productive team members included seventh-graders Lillie Tune, Callie Backes, Savannah Fowler, and Gemma Rehagen, as well as sixth-graders Chloe Bruce and Bella Buschjost.
