Johnny R. Shields, 78, of Lonedell, passed away Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Washington.
He was born on July 28, 1948, to the late Randall D. and Goldie F. (Garrison) Shields in St. Charles.
He was united in marriage to Virginia Dale Helmig on Aug. 21, 1965, in St. Charles.
Johnny was employed as a plumber with A1 Plumbing, himself, Plumber and Pipefitters Local 562 and AA Quick.
He was preceded in death by parents, Randall and Goldie; and siblings, Lula Belle Matney, Helen Jenkins and Eula Faye Darr.
Johnny is survived by wife, Virginia; children, Randall Shields and wife Deborah of Mt. Sterling, Roger Shields and wife Cherie of Wentzville, Kathy Dukes and husband Michael of Moncks Corner, S.C. and Thomas Shields of Lonedell; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings, Paul Shields of Jefferson City and Norma Jean Null of Overland.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 12, at the Oklahoma Church of Christ in Chamois, with Gary Ruff officiating. Interment was in the Oklahoma Church of Christ Cemetery.
Memorial contributions suggested to the American Cancer Society.
