Fatima earned its first soccer win of the season as the Lady Comets defeated Dixon 9-3 on the road last Tuesday.
Kacie Haller and Lauren Stuecken each posted a hat trick, while Abby Rogers scored two, and Lily Borgmeyer scored her first career goal.
Caroline Neubert had seven saves, Maura Falter counted five, and Rose Backes finished with two.
On Thursday, the Lady Comets fell 5-1 to Crocker.
“We achieved a victory in one game and fought valiantly in a challenging loss,” said Coach Katie Hudspeth. “I am proud of the continuous growth and learning demonstrated by the girls in every game.”
Coach Kelley-Marie Wibberg added that the loss to Crocker stings, but it’s part of the process. “We had our chances, and at this level you have to capitalize,” she said. “We’ll learn from it and be better because of it.”
Rogers put Fatima on the score board just eight minutes into the game, but Crocker controlled the rest of the game.
“Soccer is a demanding sport that requires continuous adaptation and mental fortitude throughout the entire match,” said Wibberg. “Our players are currently developing their physical and mental endurance to optimize their performance in each match. I am proud of each athlete for their commitment to the team this season, whether they are returning veterans with high aspirations for themselves and the team, or new players who are developing a passion for the sport and growing from the experience.”
