Chamois picked up a victory over Bunceton last week as the Lady Pirates moved into the final stretch of their volleyball season.
Erica Bledsoe led Chamois with 11 kills and 30 digs in the win, while Raigen Cramer recorded nine kills, 27 digs, two assists, and five aces. Carly Schollmeyer finished with 14 assists, 16 digs, and an ace, and Emma Mehmert added three kills, six assists, 11 digs, and an ace.
Brie Keilholz contributed 18 digs, one assist, and two aces, while Leighton Doney finished with five kills and 10 digs.
Serving was one of the Lady Pirates’ strengths against Bunceton. Chamois put 65 of 72 serves in play and recorded nine aces.
Coach Abby Keilholz said Chamois lost its other matches during the week but continued to compete hard.
“The girls fought really hard,” Keilholz said.
The serving performance was also an encouraging sign for a team that has worked to become more consistent from the line. Keilholz said the Lady Pirates missed fewer than 10 serves during the week.
Chamois is scheduled to host Senior Night on Thursday and play its final home match on Friday. The Lady Pirates will then compete in the Eugene Tournament on Saturday.
Keilholz said the approaching finish has brought a mix of emotions for the team. “The girls are excited and nervous to end the season,” Keilholz said.
Saturday’s tournament will also mark the end of Chamois’ season. The Lady Pirates will not compete in the district tournament because it conflicts with the FFA National Convention.
