Larry F. Peters, 83, Loose Creek, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife of 61 years and family at his side.
He was born on Dec. 19, 1942, at home, one of eleven children to the late Carter and Louise (Haslag) Peters.
He was a 1957 graduate of Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Loose Creek and a 1961 graduate of Fatima High School.
Larry served in the U.S. National Guard.
He was united in marriage to Kathryn Bailey on May 1, 1965, at St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill.
Larry worked with his dad at the family’s poultry business for several years. In April of 1969, he founded Bailey-Peters Gas Company, which grew into one of the largest privately held companies in Central Missouri. In November of 1979, Larry sold the company to Ferrell Gas. He continued working as general manager for Ferrell Gas and later worked for Twehous Excavating Company and Laclede Electric-MFA Propane until his retirement in 2008.
Larry was a lifelong and active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek.
He enjoyed golfing, playing horseshoes, barbequing and going to the Downstream Casino. Perhaps his most loved title was that of Grandpa. He and Kathryn were the center of their grandchildren’s lives.
