LINN — A Linn woman died Tuesday night, March 3, after being struck by a vehicle in the city, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at 10:09 p.m. March 3 in the 200 block of South Second Street in Linn. Investigators reported that a 67-year-old Linn man was backing a 2006 Jeep Commander when he attempted to stop but pressed the accelerator instead of the brake. The vehicle then struck a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a 58-year-old woman from Linn, was transported by the Osage County Ambulance District to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, where she was pronounced dead at 10:53 p.m. by Dr. Chelsie Broomhead.
The driver was not reported injured. The Jeep sustained minor damage and was secured at the scene.
The crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper T.M. Johnson and Cpl. B.J. Blankenbeker with Team 5 of the Major Crash Investigation Unit, with assistance from the Linn Police Department.
According to the patrol, the incident was Troop F’s first traffic fatality for the month of March and the seventh fatality of 2026.
