Linn Middle School track athletes competed at the Hallsville Purple Invitational last Wednesday, facing a large field of teams and continuing to build depth across events.
“The middle school team competed well,” said Coach Robyn Baker. “Because of the enormity of the meet opening heights and minimum/scratch lines for some of our kids were higher and farther than they were used to. However, there were several personal bests by our runners, throwers, and jumpers.”
On the boys’ side, the 4x800-meter relay team of Landon Engelhardt, Michael Ramey-Pennington, Trenton Vogler, and Ben Swann led Linn with a seventh-place finish (11:11.03).
“MJ ran his first 400, and it was fun to watch,” said Baker. “Brandon Youtzy is mainly a thrower, and threw a PR in shot put, but he stepped out of his comfort zone and ran a really nice 100m and a leg of the 4x400. Trenton started the season wanting to run sprints, but has found he likes the longer races. He ran a PR in the 1600m at the meet.”
Here are the remaining results.
