Lucille Lorene Wilcox, 97, of Bland, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

She was born April 13, 1926, a daughter to the late Oscar and Addie Fortner in Japan, Mo.

She was united in marriage to Louis Wilcox, April 9, 1946. He preceded her in death June 14, 1993.

Lucille was baptized in and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Bland. Together with Louis, they ran the Bland DX gas station in Bland for almost 10 years. Lucille worked as a caretaker for many years in the area helping out others in need.

Lucille was a homemaker and was a great cook. Her biscuits and gravy were fantastic. She enjoyed growing flowers, gardening, and decorating her home. Lucille loved playing Rummy and other card games, as well as playing bingo at various places in the area. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life to the fullest. Above all, her greatest times were spent visiting with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Addie; husband,  Louis; son, Kenneth Wilcox; and eight brothers and sisters.

Lucille is survived by daughter, Michelle and fiancé Eric Trammell of Jefferson City; granddaughter, Erika Allee and husband Logan; and special nieces, Krista Hardecke and husband Ron of Owensville and Mary Voss of Sullivan; as well as many other extended family members and friends.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Lucille’s name to Protect Every Pet (P.E.P.) in Bland.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sassmann’s Chapel, Belle.
