Martin Herman “Matt” Baumhoer, 91,Taos, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

He was born on April 15,1935, to the late Anton and Minnie (Woehr) Baumhoer in Folk.

He attended school at Folk University and later worked as a sales representative in the floor covering department at Jefferson City Distributors, where he was known for his dedication and friendly personality.

Matt was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marlene Struttman on Sept. 7, 1957, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with a family that remained the center of Matt’s life.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially cherished deer hunting with his sons, and the family’s annual pheasant hunting trips to Iowa. Matt loved farming and raising cattle and rarely missed watching a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game or a St. Louis Blues hockey game, especially when surrounded by family and friends.

One of the greatest joys of Matt and Marlene’s married life was living at and operating Ted’s Lake, where they spent many wonderful years together, made lifelong friendships and created treasured memories with generations of family and visitors alike.

Matt truly never met a stranger. One of his favorite questions was, “Where are you from?” in hopes of discovering a fellow Osage County resident. He took immense pride in his Osage County roots and treasured the family’s Century Farm, established in 1853, which represented generations of family history and hard work.

Matt was preceded in death by parents, Anton and Minnie; parents-in-law, Theodore and Mildred Struttman; his brothers, Cyril and Norman Baumhoer; his brothers-in-law, Lloyd Cassmeyer and David Borgmeyer; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lloyd and Pat Struttman and Henry and Dorothy Mattucks.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 69 years, Marlene; children, Dale Baumhoer  and wife Suzie, Glen Baumhoer and wife Kim, Belinda Luadzers and husband Randy, Janel Edgell  and husband Ralph and Chrisie Grob and husband James; sisters, Esther Borgmeyer and Viola Cassmeyer; sister-in-law, Patsy Baumhoer; and his cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Jaegers, Matthew Luadzers and wife Kim, Kayla Curry and husband Curt, Jessica Stevens and husband Travis, Brook Luecke and husband Andy, Stephanie Pehle and husband Nick, Blake Edgell and wife DeeDee, Ally Edgell, Brandon Baumhoer and wife Lori, Casey Baumhoer  and wife Michelle, Jordan Baumhoer, Derek Edgell and wife Lindsey, Megan Edgell  and husband Nathan, Abby Jenkins and husband Tanner, Austin Baumhoer, Miranda Skahan and husband Chris and Haley Reed and husband Derrick; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

His kindness, sense of humor, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
