Now would be a good time for an audit

I have questioned from the very beginning of my letter writing, even before that, just what is the bishop up to. What is his agenda?

I have always felt that he will not be bishop for long. He is just passing through on his way to bigger things.

There has been a lot of personnel change at the chancery and I wonder what the real reason behind all the changes are.

I think now would be a good time for an audit of the chancery and all appropriate departments. A complete and comprehensive audit done by an outside accounting firm, and published for ALL to see. More comprehensive than that “fluff” that is mailed out yearly during a fund drive.

We would all like to know about the Early Childhood Center - how it is funded? How are salaries paid? Who has access to it? Is it just immediate employees of the diocese or can families who pay into the church every week and probably inadvertently paid for it, have access?

What about the Samaritan Center in Jefferson City? Why are there plans for a Food Pantry? Will they compete against each other?

What happened to all the “project” money that the bishop usurped? How many other parishes have experienced this?

Has the chancery ever accessed the A.J. Schwartze Foundation and for what?

I have had one detractor “to keep all the money in your parish.” It is not just my parish. I would like to see every parish have autonomy over their finances. They went on with “the needs of the diocese are great and we all need to contribute.” So what exactly are these great needs and why wasn’t some of that $13 million used for those needs?

I am sure an actual audit would answer a lot of questions.
