Omer Nicholas Sieren, 79, Folk, passed away on Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at Westphalia Hills, with his devoted wife, Bernie, lovingly caring for him through his final days.

He was born July 5, 1946, to the late Bernard and Lucille (Heisdorffer) Sieren in Washington, Iowa.

He graduated from Keota High School in 1964.

Omer was united in marriage to the love of his life, Bernadette Wehr on April 8, 1967, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sigourney, Iowa. Together they raised two daughters, Theresa and Alicia, of whom he was very proud.

Omer grew up working on the family farm before working as a construction worker in Iowa City. In 1974, he and Bernie purchased a farm near Browning, where they raised livestock, harvested crops and tended to a large garden. He later worked for Conagra in Milan, and after moving to the Folk area in 1995, he was employed by Modine Manufacturing until his retirement.

A man of faith and community, Omer was a member of the Keota, Iowa, Knights of Columbus and a devoted parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where he regularly attended Mass.

He enjoyed playing cards, trying his luck with the lottery, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and spending time outdoors—especially riding his John Deere Gator. Above all, he cherished watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.

Omer was preceded in death by parents, Bernard and Lucille; and father‑ and mother‑in‑law, Matt and Rosemary Wehr.

He is survived by wife, Bernie of the home; daughters, Theresa Huhn and husband Mark of Folk and Alicia Kolb and husband Curt of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Katelyn White and husband Ethan, Cody Huhn and Nathan and Trevor Kolb; great‑grandson, Rhett White; brothers, Herb and Roger Sieren; sisters, JoAnn Scandridge, Connie Poole‑Hamende, Sharon Robertson, Bev Berg and Carol Bermel; as well as numerous brothers‑ and sisters‑in‑law, nieces, nephews, and great‑nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Feb. 28, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Folk, with Father Dylan Schrader officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
