OSAGE COUNTY  — Filing for the April election closed on Dec. 26 and there are several contested races shaping up.

In municipal elections, the city of Westphalia has two aldermen positions up for election, held by Stanley Heckman and Lori Asel. They have both filed for reelection, along with challenger Caitlin Berhorst.

Westphalia will also have a tax levy question on the ballot in April that will ask residents to renew the Special Road District tax levy for an additional four years.

At Meta, four have filed for two seats. Aldermen Steven Sherrell and Otto Wankum have filed, along with Austin Buechter and Lance Juergensmeyer.

Seats held by Chamois Mayor Marie Slusser, and aldermen Cole Schaben, Cheyanna Wolfe, Sara Mengwasser, and Jim Wright are up for election. No one filed so this will be a write-in election.

At Chamois R-1, incumbents Nick Schollmeyer and Kris Wuelling have filed for reelection, along with challenger Sabra Paulsmeyer.

Uncontested races include Freeburg, as Trustee Jamie Kaesik has file for re-election, along with challenger Bradley Wieberg. Trustee Shane Zimmer did not file for reelection. Freeburg will not hold an election since two seats were open and only two people filed.

Linn aldermen Steve Boeckmann and Christopher Jaegers have filed for reelection.

Morrison aldermen Steve Nolte and Jason Koenigsfeld, and Collector Stephanie Birk have filed for reelection. Alderman Rick Penrod has filed for mayor.

Linn R-2 board members Mark Baker and Hannah Swann, and challenger Brad Peterson, have filed for the April election.

Fatima R-3 incumbents Suzanne Massman and Jeffrey Winkelman filed to retain their seats.

Osage Ambulance District board members Luke Probst and Rick Cramer have filed for reelection in sub-districts #3 and #6, respectively.

In the Maries Osage Ambulance District, board member Eileen Smith filed for reelection in sub-district #3. In sub-district #6, Angie (Angela) Thompson has filed for the seat held currently by board member Victor Stratman.
