CHAMOIS — Chamois aldermen approved Marie Slusser as the new mayor at a special meeting last Wednesday. Under the advisement of the City Attorney David Bandre and former City Attorney Amanda Grellner, Slusser, acting in her capacity as an alderman, nominated herself to the position of mayor, which aldermen unanimously approved.
Slusser then appointed Cheyanna Wolf to take her seat as alderman, which the board also unanimously approved.
“The reason I chose Cheyanna is because she would like to help the city,” Slusser said. “She is 23 years old. (She) and Cole (Schaben) are young, and they see more of what’s going on with the city.”
Slusser, Wolf, and Schaben were sworn into their offices at the end of the meeting.
Slusser pointed out that every seat on the board would be open for election next April.
