LINN — Linn aldermen unanimously authorized the sale of seven acres to State Technical College of Missouri at a special meeting on Tuesday, May 2. Known as the Morton Lagoon property, it sold for $40,000. As the property name suggests, it was formally a city lagoon.
As a provision of the sale, the college agreed that the property “and all other property owned by the seller which is or shall be contingent to the city limits of the city of Linn shall be or become contiguous to the city limits by voluntary petition as soon as it is possible and practicable.”
State Technical College agreed to take all steps necessary to accomplish annexation.
Mayor Dwight Massey noted that all parties, including those at State Tech, agreed on the sale, price, and purchase of the land.
