Stolen property recovered at Chamois

In response to a March 2 call regarding suspicious activity, Osage County deputies responded to the 400 Block of Poplar Street in Chamois, where they found a 1998 Ford pickup with a 20-foot gooseneck trailer abandoned on private property. Further investigation determined that the truck, trailer, and numerous welding supplies and tools had been stolen from a farm on CR 317.

According to Det. Mark Williams, it is believed the theft occurred during the early morning hours of March 2. The owner of the stolen truck also reported the theft of a Honda Rancher ATV.

All stolen items were returned to the owner.

Also that day, a landowner on CR 316 reported an abandoned ATV on his property. Deputies responded and determined that the abandoned ATV was the same ATV stolen the previous day, and it was also returned to its owner.

On March 3, deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of CR 274A to investigate a theft. The caller reported his Kubota UTV was stolen and found abandoned on an adjoining property.

Deputies continue to follow up on leads as these investigations progress. Anyone with information regarding stolen property, thefts, or suspicious activity is urged to contact the Osage County Sheriff’s Office at 573-897-3927.
