Heidi Struemph earned first place in the 130-pound division at last week’s Dutchgirls wrestling meet, starting her senior year strong with five first-period pins, as Emillie Bonnot (190) and Aubrey Wieberg (100) each finished fourth.
“I was very impressed with the group as a whole,” said Coach Kurt Strope. “We gained a lot of experience and almost everyone came away from the tournament with a win or came very close. As the girls settle into their weight classes this season, I see the group taking some huge leaps. They are going to be a fun group to watch and see what all they can accomplish.”
Bailey Buschjost (155) claimed two wins and finished fifth; Draven Cole (155B) earned no wins but earned fifth; Ivy Ruecker (190) went 2-3 and earned seventh; Elizabeth Mayer (125) finished eighth; and Renee Wilbers (125) placed ninth.
