As the new year is upon us, I would like to look back at “old man time” and reflect on some of the outrageous deeds the progressive left displayed in 2023.
You may ask why this is important. The reason: It is the progressive left wing of the Democrat party that is controlling it.
Some Democrat leaders recognize the train, that is, the Democrat party, heading to the cliff.
In September, longtime Democratic strategist James Carville called progressives a burden to the party on Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast. “I find the left to be just annoying,” Carville told Maher. “The western far left is habitually the most stupid, naive people you can imagine. They come up with these really goofy constructs and it’s all about feeling good about yourself.”
Let’s look at some of these “goofy” liberals and what they did last year.
First is the mayor of Burbank, Calif., Konstantine Anthony. I doubt that many outside the Golden State have ever heard of him. But he is a prime example of the left-wing Democrats that are running the party and ruining America.
In September, Anthony was spanked with a paddle by a drag queen at a Democrat fundraiser. In a video post of the spanking, he wrote, “Jealous?”
When asked if he supported abolishing the police, in an interview with FOX News Digital, Anthony said, “Yes, I’m a full abolitionist. I don’t believe police have any effect on crime.”
When asked if a Marxist revolution would address some of the problems in America, he answered, “I actually do. That’s funny. I actually do.”
Outgoing Democrat Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards is against imprisonment. “For as long as I can remember, Louisiana reflexively responded to an increase in crime by putting more people in prison and keeping them there longer,” Edwards told Louisiana news outlet NOLA.com.
To solve this problem, he pardoned 40 convicted murderers last year, along with inmates who were convicted of aggravated arson, possession of Schedule II narcotics, and aggravated kidnapping.
The Lone Star State is also infected with progressive ideology. Austin’s Soros-backed DA, Jose Garza, reduced the charges and the bond for Roberto Rangle.
Rangle was arrested in 2022 for his 7th DUI that resulted in the deaths of 22-year-old Kate Garcia and 23-year-old Mark Narvaez.
Fox 7 Austin reported that Rangel’s charge was reduced to DWI, and his bond went from $100,000 to $10,000. In addition, his portable alcohol monitor was removed.
Staying in the liberal city of Austin, Progressive Democrat Rep. Greg Casar —part of “The Squad” — voted as a city council member in 2020 to defund the Austin Police Department. Over the holidays, he requested enhanced police patrols at his home in Austin. Also in December, Casar accused the Texas police force of racism.
A Virginia Democrat running for Congress accused Republicans of dirty politics when her sex scandal was brought to light. Susanna Gibson, a nurse practitioner, engaged in sex acts with her husband on a pornographic website for money.
The Biden administration appointed Sam Brinton, a nonbinary, in 2022 to lead nuclear waste policy at the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy. He left the administration in 2023 after multiple charges of luggage theft from airports. One of the alleged thefts occurred when Brinton was on an official taxpayer-funded trip to Nevada.
Last month, Melanie Yazzie, a liberal arts professor at the University of Minnesota, called for people to “dismantle” and “decolonize” America during a pro-Palestinian event. “So it’s our responsibility as people who are within the United States to go as hard as possible to decolonize this place because that will reverberate all across the world,” Yazzie said. “Because the U.S. is the greatest predator empire that has ever existed.”
In Seattle, apparently, men can get pregnant, and women have penises. A high school student’s answer on a quiz was marked wrong when the student was brave enough to go against the course teachings and marked two statements “true” — “All men have penises” and “Only women can get pregnant.”
These are just some of the examples that “goofy” liberals gave us last year. I’m sure many of you can cite others. My bet is there will be ample more in 2024.
