CHAMOIS — Shannon Spires, 53, and Jason Spires, 44, of Chamois, were charged last week with one count each of possession of a controlled substance following a consensual knock-and-talk at their residence on Hwy.100.
Members of the Osage County Sheriff’s Office and Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force went to the Spires’ home at about 11 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, explaining they were knocking on residences based on anonymous tips in the Osage County area. They consented to a request to search their home for narcotics.
In the bedroom, the deputies found a box containing a white powder that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Jason Spires told deputies he had used meth in the past.
On the farthest side of the structure — a school bus turned into a living area — was clothing belonging to a female and shoes believed to fit Shannon Spires. Under Shannon’s side of the bed, deputies observed a box containing two straws.
When deputies told her they had found straws containing traces of meth, Shannon admitted the box was hers.
Both were booked at the Osage County Detention Center without incident. They were released on their own recognizance and will be arraigned at 10 a.m. on July 18 before Judge Sonya Brandt.
