USPS advancing to one of the world’s worst

Why does mail that gets mailed in Linn to another Linn address have to go all the way to Columbia for sorting and then be returned to Linn for delivery? Why can’t Linn post office personnel not sort the few pieces of mail that are mailed in Linn for Linn delivery? Why does it have to be sent all the way to Columbia and returned?

Recently, April 18, I mailed a birthday card from my Linn address to another Linn address. The birthday card ended up being delivered April 22. How ridiculous is that? Yet the postal service has the audacity to request an increase in the cost of postage.

I consent it is still the cheapest  mail service in the world, but it is also rapidly becoming one of the worst in the world.

An item I recently ordered and was to be delivered via the postal service showed a tracking delivery date of April 6. The item eventually delivered April 11.

A prior package I was to receive arrived at the Linn Post office, was stamped by the post office in Linn and sent on to Linn Creek. It was returned three days later for delivery to my address.

The Linn postmaster’s political answer was, “These things happen”. Good republican answer. Unfortunately, they happen way too frequently.

Respectfully,

Dieter F. Palmer, USN (Ret)
