Verlin Joseph Boes, 81, passed away Dec. 10, 2025.
He was born Dec. 26, 1943, in Linn.
He started his career as a barber after high school and, always looking to advance, found life insurance sales. Verlin became very successful and was motivated to maintain his lifestyle.
He moved to Kansas City, where he met, fell in love with and married JoAnn Catalano. Their marriage lasted 52 years until her passing in 2024.
Verlin was a U. S.veteran.
He was proud of his sobriety and shared his experiences and hopes with all.
Verlin had a love for antique cars and enjoyed his life on Weatherby Lake.
He was preceded in death by wife, JoAnn; parents, Joseph and Dorothy; sons, Joseph and Michael Boes; and brother, David “Davey” Boes.
Verlin is survived by brother, Don Boes and wife Sara; stepson, Peter L. Catalano and wife JoMarie; grandchildren, JoAnna Catalano-Britt, Rosalee Catalano-Moriarity, Antionette and Michael Marshall and Christian, Giavonna and Isabella Boes; seven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Carla; and step-nephew and niece, Christopher and Patricia Vargas.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 15, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Kansas City. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery in Kansas City.
Pallbearers were Peter and John Moriarity, Christopher Vargas, Gabe and Michael Marshall Sr., Michael Marshall, Darren Britt Sr., and Darren Britt II.
