As part of Westphalia Historical Society’s 50th anniversary, a Civil War event was held on Sunday, at which more than 100 people heard from Gov. Hamilton Gamble, portrayed by Stephen Stark, President Abraham Lincoln, portrayed by Mark Rehagen, and Union telegrapher William Morelock, with recollections shared by his great-great-grandson, Cole County Presiding Commissioner Sam Bushman. An in-depth story will appear next week. Following the event, members of the Wespthalia Historical Society held their annual meeting, at which the Schroeder Award and a college scholarship were presented.
