All three public schools graduating this weekend

OSAGE COUNTY  — This weekend, Osage County will be jammed full of family and friends as they gather to celebrate graduation at the county’s three public schools. State Tech is also holding commencement ceremonies; a story on that appears separately.

Chamois R-1 will kick off Mother’s Day weekend with graduation at 8 p.m. on Friday. There will not be a keynote speaker. Four students will present their thoughts and a video will be presented.

Linn High School Secretary Alice Scheulen was selected to give the keynote address at Sunday’s 2 p.m. ceremony. She graduated from Fatima and after marrying Roger Scheulen, moved to the Linn R-2 district, where she has lived for the last 34 years. Their four daughters have graduated from Linn.

In her free time, Alice serves on the Osage County Fair Board and is an integral part of planning the fair. She also helps take care of her busy grandchildren. When asked what her favorite thing is about working at Linn High School, Alice replied,”My favorite thing is the kids, even though they drive me nuts at times.”

Fatima graduation will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. Alumni Roger Kloeppel, who graduated in 1987 after attending St. Joseph, will deliver the keynote speech.

After graduation, Kloeppel worked as a summer employee at Three Rivers Electric Cooperative, and was hired as a full-time apprentice lineman in 1988 after attending college for a year. By going to night classes, he earned his degree in Business Administration at Lincoln University in 1995.  In 1997, Kloeppel became the Operations Coordinator at Three Rivers Electric Cooperative, and in 2004, he was promoted to Manager of Operations. In 2019, Kloeppel was named CEO/General Manager, a position he continues to hold.

Kloeppel was married in 1995 to Mary Winkelman, and together they have six children – Madelyn, Maria, Malory, Michael, Maggie, and Matthew — and one grandchild, Vincent.

Kloeppel continues to live in Westphalia and he is still a member of St. Joseph Parish. He is also a member of the Westphalia Lions Club.

Kloeppel serves on the Electric Distribution Advisory Board at State Tech, the Board of Directors at both Central Electric Power, and the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives.
