Betty Lou Tilson, 94, Columbia, formerly of Westphalia, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, at The Bluffs in Columbia.
She was born Nov. 8, 1929, to the late Roy and Elva (Crider) McDaniel in Linn., a daughter
She attended McDaniel School near Linn.
Betty was united in marrige to November 6, 1976, she was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Tilson in Columbia. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2013.
She worked as a secretary and a housewife and was employed with the Selective Service in Linn along with various other jobs.
Betty was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Linn where she taught bible study. She was also a member of the Fabulous 50’s Club in Columbia.
Betty enjoyed going to church, baking, being known as the “pie lady” of Westphalia along with watching and feeding the birds. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
Betty was preceded in death by husband of 36 years, Richard; parents, Roy and Elva; son, Terry Neuner; twin infant girls, Shiela and Shelley Neuner; brothers, Kenneth, Dick and Gary McDaniel; and sister, Jean Whattam-Voss.
She is survived by sons, Steven Neuner of Richardson, Texas and Richard Neuner and wife Shawna of Columbia; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 until 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 21, followed by the funeral services at Morton Chapel in Linn with Rev. Kayla Kelly-Beard officiating. Interment will be in Linn Public Cemetery following the service.
