Bridget A. Parkhurst, 75, Linn, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.

She was born Oct. 21, 1948, to the late John J. and Lula J. (Malan) Strope in Linn.

She was a 1966 graduate of Linn High School. 

Bridget was united in marriage to Michael Parkhurst May 5, 1973, at St. George Catholic Chuch in Linn. 

She worked as a 1st grade teacher at St. Mary’s School in Frankenstein and then spent a couple years at Scholastic in Jefferson City. Bridget then began her 32-year career as an accountant for the state of Missouri in the Department of Social Services. 

She was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn, St. Ann’s Sodality, Farm Bureau and Osage County Historical Society.   

Bridget enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, sewing, doing puzzles and crossword puzzles, working in her flower gardens and baking and cooking. She carried on her mother’s tradition of always treating the children on Halloween with her homemade popcorn balls. Bridget loved nature and enjoyed many Sunday afternoon drives through the countryside. 

She was preceded in death by parents, John and Lula; grandson, Gabriel Joseph Sanner; brothers, Joe, Ben and John Strope; and  sisters, Elizabeth “Liz” Kennedy and Gertrude “Gert” Peters.

Bridget is survived by husband of 50 years, Michael; daughter, Anastasia “Ana” Sanner and husband Jeffrey of Linn; grandchildren, Michael and Elliott Sanner of Linn; step-grandchildren, Sarah, Jami, Kayla, Jeffrey and Korvayr; brothers, Francis Strope and wife Charlene of Rich Fountain, David Strope of Fulton, Robert Strope and wife Irene of Linn and Stanley Strope and wife Margaret of Linn; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., (today) Wednesday, Dec.  20, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with Fr. Colin Franklin and Fr. Daniel Merz officiating. Interment will be in the St. George Parish Cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to St. George Catholic School or St. Ann’s Sodality.
