VIENNA — Running on a 300-meter track.

That is what Chamois’ Pirates and Lady Pirates got to do last Wednesday at Vienna High School during the annual Vienna Middle School (VMS) Eagle Classic Invitational.

Scoring 53 team points, John Leach’s Pirate track team placed fifth behind Vienna (141), Bland (89), Plato (84) and Dixon (76.5).

Brayden Cotton racked up 28 points by himself with wins in the boys shot put (12.90m) and boys discus (42.71m) in addition to a second-place time of 27.76 in the boys 200m dash.

During their lone relay race at Vienna, the Pirate 4x200m relay team of Grayson Gerloff, Victor Slack, Levi Weed and Cotton placed third in a time of 2:02.27.

Weed also placed third in the 800m run in 2:41.94 and fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 1:06.27.

Benjamin Ruegge threw his way to team points for the Pirates in the boys discus with a fourth-place throw of 25.01m to go along with a seventh-place throw of 8.71m in the boys shot put.

In spite of only scoring four team points, Leach’s Lady Pirates improved on their times at Vienna.

Carly Schollmeyer’s fifth-place leap of 7.09m in the girls triple jump accounted for all four of the team points for the Lady Pirates.

Raigan Cramer’s best finish of the meet for the Lady Pirates came in the 200m dash with a 15th-place time of 35.38.

Schollmeyer narrowly missed the top eight and scoring position with a ninth-place time of 5:11.50 in the girls 1200m run.

Jaelyn Thoenen also posted her best finish of the meet in the girls 1200m run with a 12th-place time of 5:18.42.

Weather permitting, Chamois Middle School track is scheduled to compete today (Wednesday) at the South Callaway Middle School Invitational at South Callaway High School in Mokane.
