Chamois claimed a 13-12 win over Fatima on Friday in the Lady Pirates’ first win of the season.
Raigen Cramer hit a three-pointer with less than a minute to go in the game and Carly Schollmeyer got the rebound to run the clock out for the win. “I’m very proud of the girls,” said Coach John Leach, his team taking a season-high 33 shots.
Chamois led 6-2 after the first quarter but Fatima tied it up going into the half. After holding the Lady Comets scoreless through the third, Chamois led 10-8 heading into the fourth. Though Fatima won the frame 4-3, the Lady Pirates held on for the win.
Cramer led with nine points and Kylie Garstang added four. Cramer also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds as Schollmeyer snagged eight, Nora Wideman had six, Dixee Powers and Erica Bledsoe each pulled down three, Faith Mitchem had two, and Keira Powers finished with one.
On Thursday, Chamois fell 39-6 to Eugene.
“The girls played very hard in this game,” said Coach Leach.
Wideman, Cramer, and Garstang scored two apiece. On the glass, Wideman snagged seven rebounds and Bledsoe added three while K. Powers and D. Powers had two each, and Cramer and Garstang posted one each.
On Oct. 1, Chamois lost 41-11 to Jamestown.
“The girls scored more points this game but are still having trouble with knowing where the player they are guarding is on the floor,” said Leach. “In some cases, they did better.”
Cramer’s five points and five rebounds led the team as D. Powers, Garstang, and Bledsoe put in two apiece. D. Powers and Wideman added four rebounds each, K. Powers had two, and Garstang, Bledsoe, and Mitchem finished with two each.
