David Terry Broeker, 73, Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, at St. Joseph Bluffs.

He was born Jan. 26, 1948, to the late Harvey William and Mabel Kay (Langenberg) Broeker in Hermann.

He was a graduate of Linn High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Central Missouri with a double major in Political Science and Criminal Justice Administration.

David was united in marriage to Doris Ann Modelski Nov. 23, 1985, at Central United Church of Christ in Jefferson City. 

He worked most of his career in the political field as a Campaign Manager and Coordinator several times, a Government Transition Officer, Deputy Commissioner for the Missouri Department of Agriculture, Assistant to Governor Kit Bond, Senior Vice President of Preferred Dental Health Plans of Missouri, Assistant to State Auditors Kit Bond, Jim Antonio and Margaret Kelly, and former Director of the Missouri Division of Professional Registration under Governor Matt Blunt.  Following his retirement from politics, David owned and operated DB Distribution Company and was the State Director of License Offices for Alternative Opportunities.

He served on the City of Jefferson Police Personnel Advisory Board, was a member of the Jefferson City Sunrise Optimist Club where he served as Vice President and President, he served as both President and Vice President of the University of Central Missouri National Alumni Association Board of Directors and was a member of the Linn Masonic Lodge #326, AF&AM.

David received the Optimist of the Year award, Outstanding Young Men in America award, Outstanding Young Civic Leader award, and was a National Delegate for the Secretary of Health and Human Services to the White House Conference on Aging.

He was preceded in death by parents, Harvey and Mabel.

Davod is survived by wife, Doris of Jefferson City; son, Bart Broeker; daughters, Katie Wilbers and husband Scott of Jefferson City and Sarah Kay Ison and husband Chris of Blue Springs; grandchildren, Dakota Broeker and  Avery and Aiden Wilbers; brother, Jim Broeker and wife Arlene of Linn; sister-in-law, Linda Modelski; niece and nephew, Kristin and William Modelski; and beloved granddog, Sophie Joe.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, followed by the funeral service at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Deacon Ed Stroesser officiating.

Entombment will be in Resurrection Catholic Mausoleum.
