David Jospeh Collins, 33, Jefferson City passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, in Manhattan, Kan.

He was born April 5, 1990, to Leonard Scott Stone and Valerie Ann Collins in Columbia.

He was a 2009 graduate of Linn High School, and earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Linn State Technical College.

David was currently employed as a Light and Sound Stage Technician for Loud Productions in Topeka, Kan.  He previously worked for Jefferson City Manor, ABB in quality control, Missouri Department of Correction as a correctional officer and a pharmacy technician at Schnuck’s Grocery, all in Jefferson City.

David enjoyed reading, playing video games, Anime and comic books.  In more recent times, he enjoyed horticulture, landscaping, nature walks and baking.  His greatest joy was his daughter, Madora, whom he loved being with, especially when they were cooking and whom he facetimed every night.

David was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Leonard Nathaniel Stone; and maternal grandparents, Ronald Wayne and Ethel Marie Collins.

He is survived by daughter, Madora Marie Collins of Bourbon, father, Leonard Scott Stone and wife Susan of Manhattan, Kan.; mother, Valarie Ann Collins and friend Mike Zimmer of Linn; brothers, Corey Drew Kennedy and wife Nicole of Wichita, Kan.  and Leonard Nathaniel Stone of Jefferson City; paternal grandmother, Gladys Martha Stone of Palmers, Kan.; step-grandmother, Carol M. Collins of Jefferson City; step-grandparents, Urban and Betty Zimmer of Westphalia; aunts and uncles, Daren (Michelle) Collins and wife Michelle of Jefferson City; Martha Hornbostel and husband Jim of Palmer, Kan. and D.J. Lottman and husband Rick of Choctaw, Okla.; step-brother, James Spain and wife Danielle; step-sister, Kimberly Spain and fiancé Brett Lavender; nephew, Leonard Michael Stone of Jefferson City; and former wife who he married March of 2020, Courtney Ann Barker.

Visitation will be held from 2 until 4 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 14, at Trimble Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 4 p.m.
