Dawn Maria York, 60, Dixon, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 19, 1960, to Arthur R. “Art” and Bonnie Z. (Morrow) Romanowski in Wyandotte, Mich.
She was united in marriage to Douglas William York May 3, 1997, in Dixon.
She graduated from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, with a teaching degree in special education. She taught at both St. James and Dixon.
Dawn was preceded in death by mother, Bonnie.
She is survived by husband, Douglas, of the home near Dixon; son, Steven York and wife Sandra of St. Louis; grandchildren, Steve and Emily York, both of St. Louis; father, Art Romanowski of Dexter; siblings, Art Romanowski of State of Iowa, Walter “Ricky” Romanowski of State of Texas; Donna Romanowski of Newburg, and Chris Romanowski of Dixon; and brother-in-law, Darrel York of Salem.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, in Birmingham-Martin Chapel in Dixon with Rev. Donald Leggett, DMI officiating. Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Camp Barnabas (Christian special needs summer camp.)
