Donald Lee Tappel, 78, Argyle, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at his residence in Argyle.
He was born Sept. 22, 1944, to the late Wilfred Henry and Zita Matilda (Wieberg) Tappel in St. Louis.
He was united in marriage to Ann Steinman May 1, 1965 in Argyle.
Donnie worked at Play-Mor Trailers, Inc. in Westphalia; Quaker Window Products Company in Freeburg and DeLong’s Steel Fabricating in Jefferson City, prior to being the owner and operator of Tappel Excavation in Argyle, until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by parents, Wilfred and Zita.
Donnie is survived by wife, Ann; children, Kurt Tappel, Keith Tappel and wife Jan and Jennifer Wieberg and husband Kevin, all of Argyle and Gwen Schwartz of Westphalia; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters, Barbara Bahr and husband John, of Jefferson City and Linda Pritzel of Koeltztown.
Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, Jan. 14, in St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Argyle with Rev. Basil Tigga officiating and Deacon Michael Brooks assisting.
Memorial contributions suggested for Masses or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
