MOKANE — Go out on a high note.
Osage County track athletes from Linn, Chamois and Fatima had that mentality last Thursday during the final Show-Me Conference track meet held at South Callaway High School in Mokane.
After this school year, Fatima will become an independent school while Linn will go to the Central State 8 and Chamois to the Show-Me Central.
Scoring points in all 19 events, Fatima’s Lady Comets claimed the final Show-Me Conference team title on the girls side with 185 points ahead of Russellville (159), South Callaway (98), New Bloomfield (86), Linn (73), St. Elizabeth (49), Chamois (29), Tuscumbia (11) and Eugene (7).
Fatima’s Avery Perrey (3rd, 14.27) led three county athletes in the top six of the girls 100-meter dash which included Linn’s Zoe Werdehausen (5th, 14.40) and Chamois’ Madeline Gerloff (6th, 14.45).
Linn’s Carley Brandt led five athletes in the top eight of the girls 200m dash with a third-place time of 29.38. Also in the top eight from Osage County were Fatima’s Lily Gregory (5th, 31.01), Werdehausen (6th, 31.02), Perrey (7th, 31.41) and Linn’s Tiauna Friend (8th, 32.39).
Lady Comet Addison Bower (3rd, 1:06.24) led three Osage countians in the top 10 of the girls 400m dash.
After Bower was Linn’s Hope Wolfe (6th, 1:11.58), Linn’s Kylie Messenger (7th, 1:11.98) and Fatima’s Cali Kampeter (10th, 1:20.03).
Fatima’s Brie Massman led six county athletes in the top seven of the girls 800m run with a first-place time of 2:38.44. Finishing behind her was Linn’s Paige Loethen (2nd, 2:40.52), Fatima’s Heidi Struemph (3rd, 2:45.22), Linn’s Ramsie Tschappler (4th, 2:50.60), Messenger (5th, 2:53.28) and Chamois’ Emma Mehmert (7th, 3:04.69).
Claiming the top five spots in the girls mile for Osage County were Massman (1st, 5:45.42), Loethen (2nd, 5:49.02), Fatima’s Lauren Berhorst (3rd, 5:50.34), Tschappler (4th, 6:23.29) and Gerloff (5th, 6:38.71).
Sweeping the top five spots in the girls 3200m run for Osage County were Berhorst (1st, 12:38.56), Tschappler (2nd, 13:58.31), Fatima’s Anna Rakestraw (3rd, 14:12.36), Fatima’s Reagan Bock (4th, 14:16.81) and Gerloff (5th, 14:40.82).
Chamois’ Eevie Halbert (4th, 19.70) led three county athletes in the top 10 of the girls 100m hurdles.
Fatima’s Karly Bock (6th, 19.88) and Fatima’s Carly Nilges (10th, 21.41) also posted top-10 times in the girls 100m hurdles.
Bock led four county girls in the top 12 of the girls 300m hurdles with a third-place time of 53.60.
Fatima’s Cheyenne Nicks (8th, 1:01.19), Nilges (9th, 1:01.86) and Linn’s Emerson Bowser (12th, 1:06.84) finished behind Bock.
Sprinting to a fourth-place time of 57.73 in the girls 4x100m relay was Fatima’s foursome of Abigail Rogers, Reese Dawson, Gregory and Perrey.
Winning the girls 4x200m relay in 1:58.98 for Fatima was the team of Lucy Crede, Margaret Peters, Perrey and Bock.
Taking second in the girls 4x400m relay in 4:50.75 was Fatima’s quartet of Heidi Struemph, Bock, Peters and Bower.
Teaming up to win the girls 4x800m relay for Fatima in a time of 11:04.30 was the team of Massman, Berhorst, Rakestraw and Struemph.
Linn’s team of Tschappler, Wolfe, Messenger and Loethen posted a second-place time of 11:21.69 behind Fatima in the girls 4x800m relay.
Bower won the girls high jump for Fatima clearing 1.47m while Leni Hemmel (3rd, 2.48m) and Peters (4th, 2.48m) placed in the top four of the girls pole vault for the Lady Comets.
Crede claimed a conference title in the girls triple jump with a leap of 9.24m.
Fatima’s Megan Gabelsberger led six county athletes in the top 11 of the girls shot put with a third-place throw of 9.50m.
Placing behind Gabelsberger were Fatima’s Sydney Scheppers (4th, 8.07m), Fatima’s Kate Kampeter (5th, 7.52m), Linn’s Vidella Loughridge (8th, 7.25m), Linn’s Courtney Wood (9th, 7.15m) Chamois’ Savanah Sieg (10th, 7.15m) and Linn’s Natasha Jewell (11th, 6.95m).
Lady Comet Mya Sankey won the girls discus with a throw of 29.39m.
Chamois’ Kayla Wigglesworth posted her best finish of the meet with a 16th-place time of 39.91 in the girls 200m dash.
New Bloomfield’s Wildcats captured the final Show-Me Conference team title on the boys side with 178 points finishing ahead of Russellville (164.50), Fatima (164), South Callaway (119), Chamois (35), Linn (22), Eugene (17), St. Elizabeth (13) and Tuscumbia (6.5)
Sprinting to top-10 times in the boys 100m dash were Fatima’s Easton Haslag (2nd, 11.64), Fatima’s Tyler Koenigsfeld (3rd, 11.72) and Chamois’ Kaden Wuelling (10th, 12.36).
Koenigsfeld also placed second in the boys 200m dash with a time of 23.59 while Haslag was third in 23.90.
Linn’s Cody Heckman rounded out the top 10 with a time of 24.44.
Fatima’s Tyler Kloeppel started a stretch of four events wins for the Comets with a first-place time of 51.26 in the boys 400m dash.
Other county athletes in the event were Fatima’s Zach Eisterhold (7th, 57.10), Chamois’ Every Mehmert (12th, 1:00.14) and Fatima’s Andrew Muenks (15th, 1:00.66).
Michael Groene won the boys 800m run for Fatima in 2:01.88 followed closely by Comet teammate Zach Kloeppel in a second-place time of 2:07.51.
Chamois’ Jaxon Wuelling also placed fourth in 2:10.67.
Fatima’s Trenton Orscheln (9th, 2:24.88) and Linn’s Max Jaegers (11th, 2:27.29) also ran two laps around the track in the boys 800m run.
Michael Gabelsberger captured the boys 1600m run for the Comets with a winning time of 4:46.64 followed by Cody Berhorst’s second-place time of 4:50.73.
Berhorst (1st, 10:47.48), Fatima’s Cody Kampeter (2nd, 10:57.45) and Chamois’ Caleb Keilholz (3rd, 11:08.42) claimed the top three spots for Osage County in the boys 3200m run.
Fatima’s Grant Wilbers (4th, 18.26), Kaden Wuelling (6th, 19.35) and Linn’s Thomas Scheulen (7th, 20.16) each scored team points for their respective schools in the boys 110m hurdles.
Linn’s boys 4x100m relay team of Kahne Brandt, Joseph Brandt, Scheulen and Heckman placed fourth with a time of 49.88 while Fatima’s foursome of Mason Bock, Jace Eisterhold, Zach Eisterhold and Trace Walters finished close behind in a fifth-place time of 50.11.
Taking fourth in the boys 4x200m was Fatima’s quartet of Bock, Walters, Jace Eisterhold and Zack Eisterhold in a time of 1:45.22.
Topping the field in the boys 4x400m relay in a time of 3:40.18 was Fatima’s team of Tyler Kloeppel, Groene, Haslag, and Koenigsfeld.
Chamois’ team of William Kirsch, Jaxon Wuelling, Kaden Wuelling and Keilholz also placed third in 3:57.32 during the boys 4x400m relay.
Finishing sixth in 4:23.08 was Linn’s boys 4x400m relay team of Kahne Brandt, Jaegers, Heckman and Scheulen.
Winning the boys 4x800m relay for Fatima in 9:15.02 was the team of Zach Kloeppel, Tyler Kloeppel, Cody Kampeter and Gabelsberger.
Chamois’ same foursome that ran the 4x400m relay also placed third in a time of 9:21.89 during the boys 4x800m relay.
Placing sixth in 10:48.97 for Linn was the boys 4x800m relay team of Preston Keilholz-Schuelen, Reid Baker, Joshua Worley and Jaegers.
Wilbers (5th, 1.62m) and Beau Havens (6th, 1.57m) placed in the top six of the boys high jump for Fatima.
Drew Riegel (3rd, 3.98m) and Caden Rosentreter (6th, 3.08m) also posted top-six marks in the boys pole vault for the Comets.
Heckman led county long jumpers with a second-place leap of 5.84m.
Jace Eisterhold (9th, 10.29m) and Chamois’ Max McKague (10th, 10.05m) rounded out the top 10 of the boys triple jump.
Keilholz placed fourth for the Pirates in the boys shot put with a throw of 11.69m.
Also throwing for Osage County in the event were Fatima’s Henry Schroeder (11th, 8.93m), Linn’s Connor Knoll (12th, 8.82m), Fatima’s Paden Luebbert (13th, 8.48m), Chamois’ Oliver Carter (15th, 8.00m), Fatima’s Roland Nivens (17th, 7.64m), Linn’s Xavier Knoll (18th, 7.60m) and Chamois’ Landen Northway (19th, 6.66m).
Chamois’ Dawson Brandt posted his best finish of the meet with a fifth-place throw of 34.52m.
Haslag also won the boys javelin for Fatima with a throw of 48.61m.
All three Osage County track teams will be scattered throughout the state Saturday for their respective meets.
Fatima will head to Cuba for the MSHSAA Class 3, District 5 Track Meet while Chamois will make the short trek to New Haven for the MSHSAA Class 1, District 2 meet in Shamrock land.
Linn will have the longest trek of the three schools heading north to Glasgow for the MSHSAA Class 2, District 4 meet.
