Florentine Elizabeth Hagenhoff, 93, of Meta, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at The Timbers Assisted Living in Holts Summit.
She was born on the farm outside of Meta Nov. 27, 1927, to the late Henry and Agnes (Groner) Lueckenotto.
She was united in marriage to Fred Herman Hagenhoff Oct. 1, 1949, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.
Florentine worked various jobs from housework, waitressing and factory work including Champion Canvas in Meta, Tweedie Footwear in Jefferson City and Ottenheimer in Meta until retirement.
She loved spending time outdoors tending to her flowers, gardening, pulling weeds and cutting grass. Florentine enjoyed cooking, baking, and trying out new recipes for her family. She had a talent for quilting, crocheting and embroidering and had pieced numerous quilts and baby quilts for all of her grandchildren. Florentine would quilt each week in preparation for the St. Cecilia Parish picnic’s quilt auction. She volunteered at the St. Elizabeth Nursing Home and helped with numerous local blood drives.
Florentine was an active member of the Meta community, served on the church council, cemetery board, Citizens Civic League Board, caretaker of the local funeral home, and helped serve many funeral luncheons. She was a devoted member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.
Florentine was preceded in death by husband, Fred; parents, Henry and Agnes; grandson, Jonathan Hagenhoff; great-granddaughter, Victoria Muenks; and siblings, Jerri Schroeder, Rose Bisges, Fr. Arthur Lueckenotto “Fr. Luke”, Imogene Volmert, Robert and Ed Lueckenotto.
She is survived by children, Janet Prenger and husband Edmund of Taos, Daniel Hagenhoff and wife Joyce of Henley, Dennis Hagenhoff and wife Margie of Holts Summit, Margie Helton and husband Dale and Randy Hagenhoff and wife Betty, all of Meta; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren with one on the way; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Buechter, Larry Lueckenotto, Marie Lueckenotto Norine Brune, and Mildred Wieberg; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, July 10, at St. Cecilia Catholic in Meta with Fr. Leonard Mukiibi officiating. Interment was in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta.
Memorial contributions suggested to St. Cecilia Cemetery Association.
