Gerald “Gary” Brandt, 54, Chamois, passed away Monday, Jan.15, 2024, on his beloved farm.

He was born July 15, 1969, to the late Alphonse and Catherine (Falter) Brandt in Jefferson City.

Never a man for peace and quiet, Gary loved to work his heart out on the farm and at A & G Small Engines and to come home to a house full of his children and grandchildren. Gary also enjoyed his two 4-legged best friends, Shiloh and Oreo.

He devoted every day of his life to his career and being an esteemed member of his community. Gary’s passion and success was not acquired through formal education, but rather through learning his trade from his father Alphonse and passing it on to his children.

He met Bonnie Louise Brandt in October of 1994, and they were later united in marriage June 12, 1998. Together they share 11 children.

Gary was known as a hard-working and honest businessman to his community, but his community and family also knew him as the man who, whether you met him at the business or through a random encounter, always gave you his time like he had forever.

Gary was preceded in death by parents, Alphonse and Catherine;  and siblings, Jim and Carla Brandt.

He is survived by wife, Bonnie; children, John Smith and wife  Krystle, Matt Smith and wife Chelsea, Sarah Pyatt; Beka and Dustin Stevens, Christopher Brandt and friend Claire Hemphill, Mikalah Lauberth and husband Alex, Aaron Brandt; Katie Brandt and friend Tyler Lopez and Claire, Tyler and Dawson Brandt; grandchildren, Connor and Clara Smith, Addisyn, Kynlee, Mylee, Paisley and  Beckham Smith, Payten Pyatt, Lilly, Audrey, Natalie and Parker Stevens; and the remainder of the siblings, including best friend, brother and side kick, Jerry Brandt. A special mention to Jerry’s wife Kathy Brandt for always making sure he was well fed!

Gary will always be the man who was forever living “another day in paradise,” and to him we say, “No, thank you!”

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Jan. 20, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with Fr. Colin Franklin officiating.  Interment was in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery in Loose Creek.

Memorial contributions suggested to the Venmo of Gary Brandt or to the family.

Arrangements entrusted to Morton Chapel in Linn.
