Jerome “Jerry” John Luebbert, 75, Taos, passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 10, 1948, to the late George and Frances (Sandt) Luebbert in Jefferson City.

He was united in marriage June 26, 1971, to the love of his life, Catherine (Cathy) Luebbert, who fought alongside him in his battle with Alzheimer’s and who survives at home.

Jerry is a 1966 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia.

He served his country in the Vietnam War from May 1968 to May of 1970 in the 86th Battalion attached to the 9th Infantry Division.  Jerry was honored with two purple hearts and several additional army accommodations.

He was a member of Pipefitters Local Union 562 from 1967 until his retirement from Environmental Engineering of Jefferson City in 2003. Jerry was also a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos.

He was known for his boisterous laugh, a mischievous smile and was a friend to all.  Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, motorcycles, camping and cruising on the river.  He enjoyed winters in Florida and traveling with friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by parents, George and Frances; infant daughter Sandy Ann Luebbert; father and mother-in-law, William and Louise Luebbert; and brothers-in-law, Emil, Bernie and Joe Luebbert.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cathy; children, Tina Louise Hagenhoff and husband Mike, Jason Jerome Luebbert and wife Cheryl, Dana Lynn Stuecken and husband Matt and Connie Jo Luebbert and husband Chris; grandchildren, Eugene and Dean Hagenhoff, Kaylin Luebbert, Ethan and Emma Stuecken and Dylan, Devin and Cannon Limbach; siblings, Donnie Luebbert and wife Peggy, Roger Luebbert and wife Glenda, Kathy Haaf and husband Jim and his “squirt”, Jane Haslag and husband Buddy; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Willie (Virgil) Borgmeyer, Fred Luebbert and wife Eileen, Betty Lederman and husband Art and Art Luebbert; and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 12 noon, Monday, Aug. 7, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos with the Rev. Kelechi Uzuebbu and the Rev. I.C. Medina concelebrating.

Interment with military honors was in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to the Central Missouri Honor Flight.
