Joseph “Joe” Earl McKague, 92, Linn, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Riverview Nursing Center.
He was born Jan. 3, 1931, to the late Claron and Violet (Starr) McKague in Osage County.
He was united in marriage to Vivian Boyce Aug. 15, 1953.
Joe joined and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in October of 1952.
He earned his Bachelor of Education degree and spent the majority of his career teaching school.
Joe was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping and water skiing. Above all, he was a loving husband to his “lucky and faithful” wife of nearly 70 years, and a wonderful father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by those who know and love him.
He was preceded in death by parents, Claron and Violet; and siblings, Larry and Vernon McKague and Jean Manes.
Joe is survived by wife, Vivian; daughter, Kathryn Kay McKague; grandchildren, Michelle and Travis Smith; and sister, Patricia Gerloff.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 29, at Mint Hill “Shirley” Cemetery.
