Lena Mae Foster, 82, Linn, passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.

She was born Nov. 30, 1941, to the late Fred S. and Lena (Voss) Nilges in Linn.

She was a 1959 graduate of Linn High School where she excelled in track and field. As a 14-year-old sophomore, Lena Mae received a chance to compete at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa. in the American Athletic Union National Track and Field championships.

She was employed in the banking industry for over 50 years, with 41 years spent at Legends Bank before retiring Jan. 31, 2019.

Lena Mae was a member of St. George Catholic Church.

She enjoyed going out to eat at Chop House Grille in Linn, visiting with friends and playing bingo.

Lena Mae was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Lena;  brothers, Albert, Eugene, Fred H. and Raymond Nilges; and sister, Judy Kaullen.

She is survived by son, Keith Huether and wife Linda of Columbia; daughters, Cheryl Laughlin and friend Jay of Bonnots Mill and Tammy Cavender and husband Tim of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Jason Huether and wife Christin, Jodie Nenninger and husband Forest, Cameron and Chase Laughlin and Mick, Paige, Luke and Drew Cavender; great-grandchildren, Madison Huether and Wells Nenninger; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m., (today) Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Morton Chapel in Linn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 15, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with Fr. Colin Franklin officiating.  Interment will be in the St. George Parish Cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to Alzheimer’s Association or St. George Catholic Church.
