Leonard O. Keilholz, Sr., 84, Chamois, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born April 23, 1939, a son to the late George and Edith (Benedict) Keilholz in Chamois.

He was a 1957 graduate of Chamois High School.

Leonard was united in marriage to Mary Kremer, Sept. 14, 1963, at Our Lady of Help Catholic Church in Frankenstein. She survives at their home.

Leonard grew up farming with his father George. He passed his love of farming on to his sons, Lenny and Glenn, who he has farmed with until his passing.

He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Chamois.

Leonard is survived by wife, Mary, of  59 years; daughters, Frances Knaebel and husband Ed of Jefferson City, Donna Thoenen and husband Joe of Linn and Maryann Jacquin and husband Paul of Linn; sons, Leonard “Lenny” Keilholz, Jr. and wife Nan of Chamois and Glennon Keilholz  and wife Julie of Chamois; grandchildren, Holly Thomas and husband Brent and Shelly Knaebel, Melissa Gibson and husband Josh and Megan Thoenen, Rachel and Jessica Keilholz, Anthony, Katie and Caleb Keilholz and Rebecca, Renee and Lauren Jacquin.

He has also left behind sisters, Rose and Mel Rost, both of Morrison; brother, Ray Keilholz of Jefferson City; and sister-in-law, Shirley Keilholz of Chamois; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Leonard was preceded in death by parents, George and Edith; sister, Loretta Inserra; brothers, George Keilholz, Jr., Elmer Keilholz and Clarence Keilholz; brothers-in-law, Lou Inserra, Omar Rost and Hank Rost; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Keilholz, Jane Keilholz and Carol Keilholz.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, Aug. 12, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Chamois with Rev. David Means as the celebrant and Deacon Robert Schowengerdt assisting. Interment was in Most Pure Heart of Mary Parish Cemetery.
