Mary Lou Wekenborg, 90, Linn, formerly of Jefferson City for many years, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, at Stonebridge Senior Living in Owensville surrounded by her family.
She was born June 22, 1933, to the late John Herman and Mathilda Sophia (Hake) Krummen in Cole County.
She was united in marriage to Gerald Sylvester Wekenborg July 17, 1954, in Jefferson City.
Mary Lou worked as an administrative fiscal assistant for Missouri State Emergency Management from 1963 until her retirement June 30, 1995.
She was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn and was a former member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City. Mary Lou was also a member of the Ladies Sodality.
She was very talented at crocheting and hand stitching sequence calendars.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by husband, Gerald; parents, John and Mathilda; daughter, Karen Wekenborg; son, Douglas Wekenborg; brothers, Dave, James, Omer and Delbert Krummen; and sisters, Venita Koelling and Erma Krummen.
She is survived by children, Cindy Monroe and husband Jeff and Rick Wekenborg; grandchildren, Jared Monroe and wife Monica and Jordan Monroe; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Sophia and Easton Monroe; brother, Ralph Krummen and wife Peggy of Minneapolis, Kan.; and sisters-in-law, Lucille Krummen and Clara Bolden, both of Jefferson City.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Nov. 27, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, with the Rev. Colin Franklin officiating.
Interment was in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions suggested to St. George Catholic Church or St. Peter Catholic Church.
