At Saturday’s Class 1, District 3 cross country meet at Van Far, Grayson Gerloff earned a berth in this weekend’s state meet at Gans Creek in Columbia with a 26th-place finish in 19:14.
“Grayson ran a season and career-best time to advance to his second straight state championship meet,” said Coach John Leach. “My seniors did a good job but came up short in the bid to get to state.”
Evert Mehmert finished 49th in 21:06, and Kaden Wuelling ran a time of 21:45 for 56th.
On the girls’ side, Emma Mehmert (31, 25:22) missed state by one place, and Carly Schollmeyer was 36th in 26:01. “They both ran a season-best time and had a good race, but came up short,” said Leach. “I’m very proud of all of them this season and will miss the two seniors next year.”
Gerloff will run at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
