Though the Lady Pirates lost their games last week, Coach Jennie Holifield is pleased with the effort.
“We’ve had a tough stretch on the scoreboard, but I’m proud of how the girls continue to compete and grow,” she said.
In the girls’ 65-21 loss to Belle, Chamois scored all its points in the final period. “They really came alive in the fourth quarter, which showed their fight and energy,” said Holifield.
The 50-11 loss to New Haven was another tough matchup, but the girls continued to work hard and stay engaged, especially on the defensive end, the coach noted.
“In the third loss, against Fatima, we saw more progress in how they were reading the floor and adjusting their defense, which is something we’ve really emphasized,” said Holifield. “The next step for us is being more aggressive offensively — we need to look to take more shots and trust our work in practice. These games are learning moments, and I’m proud of the effort and growth they’re showing.”
