Chamois ran into a talented Belle team on Thursday, falling 83-29 after a tough loss to Crocker on Tuesday.
“Belle has a great group, with lots of size,” said Coach Parker Jett. “They are great at scoring down low. We couldn’t handle their pressure and Belle punished us. We did not shoot well, and that only made matters worse for us. It was not a good week for our boys, but we have a big week coming up with two district opponents. We will be ready to get back to the swing of things!”
Chamois shot 29.3% overall, and covered 4-19 from three-point range and 1-4 at the line.
After scoring two in the first, the Pirates put in 17 second-quarter points, their best frame of the night.
Brayden Cotton led the team with 10 points, including a three-pointer, seven rebounds, and two blocks.
Jaxon Wuelling drained two threes on his way to eight points, as Oliver Carter scored eight from the short floor. Kaden Wuelling hit a trey to round out the scoring for Chamois. He led the team with five assists as Carter posted two, and J. Wuelling, Levi Weed, Grayson Gerloff, and Cotton counted one apiece.
K. Wuelling, Gerloff, and Carter added three rebounds apiece, as J. Wuelling and Weed posted two each.
K. Wuelling also had two steals.
In Tuesday’s 81-36 loss, Jett noted the Lions played at a pace that challenged the Pirates. “We just could not slow them down,” the coach added. “We were not at full strength; all credit to Crocker for taking advantage of that. We will learn and bounce back from these results.”
Cotton (2 treys) led with 13 points and nine boards, followed by J. Wuelling (2-2 FT, 6), Carter (6), Gerloff (4), K. Wuelling (trey, 3), Weed (2-2 FT, 2), and Victor Slack (2). J. Wuelling’s four assists paced the team, as Gerloff and Cotton posted two each, and K. Wuelling and Weed each had one.
On the glass, K. Wuelling snagged eight, followed by Weed (6), Gerloff (5), Carter and J. Wuelling (4 each), Slack (2), and Rex McKague (1).
Cotton recorded three blocks, and K. Wuelling had another, as J. Wuelling, Weed, and Slack each posted a steal.
